View 2 Replies View Related Missing Drivers On Aspire One D255E? Nov 5, 2011 I have scoured the web and seen a few other people with issues like this. Well none of them worked, and now im sitting here scratching my head on what to do next. So i downloaded all the drivers for the PC using a different computer, and installed the different drivers to see which one would work. So, I thought maybe it's not showing up because thee computer needs the drivers for it first, which is unusual, but since its windows 7 starter I thought it needed a kick in the rear to get it goin. Nothing shows up for a wireless lan card even existing in the laptop, but I know it does, because A) It's a "net Book" B) she was using the internet last week.

I thought "well there must be a driver issue, Ill go to the device manager and update the driver for it". I immediately thought "well there must be a switch that she turned off" There is no switch on the computer for the wireless card. The PC is Running Windows 7 Starter 32-bit. A friend came to me with the Acer Aspire One D255E with a wireless internet issue.

Fortunately, I can do all that I need with older versions. For layout, nothing beats Adobe InDesign (the open source alternates are crap), so you have to gag on the price. For photowork, GIMP does a pretty good job vs Photoshop - but I am not a high end photo guy - those folks need Photoshop. At least I can meet 80% of my needs with LibreOffice, but the other 20% requires the MS product. If heavy editing is required, along with other formatting, Word is better than LibreOffice Writer. I use Both Word and LibreOffice Writer, but the latter is good mostly for draft work. But for portable use, I eventually will have to get a Windows machine so I can run Word. However, I am still faced with the need to use Microsoft software, which I can do on an upgraded desktop and my old Mac. As XP goes away soon, I will move my older netbooks to Ubuntu exclusively. As a professional writer with several systems I use Windows, Ubunto & Mac OS. You need to build a system that suits YOUR needs and budget, not the political whims of others. One of the things I find interesting is the anti-windows/gates nonsense.
